This week the Toddler came home with a Fitness Award from her preschool-MDO class. Of course, when you’re two, everyone wins a fitness award of some sort, but this one made us especially proud when we read the list of skills necessary to receive the certificate.
We decided to have the Toddler perform each of these tasks–partly to see if she had really passed and partly for our own amusement. All was going well until we got to the “can do one sit up” part. And, this is when the Preschooler noticed some cheating going on. The Toddler was indeed “using her bo-ells!” (a.k.a. her “elbows”) to push herself up.
Last night when I was putting the Preschooler down for bed, we had this random conversation. As background, she is presently fascinated by the thought of being able to fly…
Preschooler: If God hadn’t made me a girl, I might have been a bird… a pink bird.
Me: But, if you were a bird you couldn’t go to preschool.
Preschooler: No, I would go to bird preschool.
Of course she would.
Why can’t I think more like this when faced with a problem? {Sigh}.
Happy weekend!
