The Toddler has been saying a few things lately that have totally stumped us. And, few things are as frustrating to her {or me!} as those times when we don’t understand what she’s trying to communicate.
Last week she started asking in the car, “Where’s Who? Where’s Who?” Well, as you can imagine, I had no idea who “Who” was. As she became more annoyed with my inability to answer her question, she started yelling, “I need Who! I need Who!” {At this point, both the Preschooler and I are yelling back at her, “Who’s Who? Who are you talking about?! What’s a Who?”…}
And, then, at long last, I looked in the rearview mirror to see her red-faced self pointing to a specific book in the backseat.
Guess who Who is?
Meet Winnie the Who… known by millions as Winnie the Pooh, and lovingly referred to simply as Who by the Toddler.
So, now I know who Who is.
Our second misunderstanding took much longer for me to figure out…
One afternoon last week the Toddler was playing happily until out of nowhere when she started slapping at her face and yelling, “My girl! My girl!” At first I thought she was talking about her baby doll, and I began looking around to help her find her “girl” doll to see if that would console her. Well, she had no use for the doll and kept getting more upset to the point that she began shaking her head {and hair} around wildly. And, suddenly, it occurred to me…
Maybe “girl” could be her way of saying “curl.”
The humidity here has been a little high lately which causes all sorts of problems for those of us with unruly hair. And, unfortunately for her, the Toddler has inherited the type of hair that is prone to all manner of weather-related issues. Little does she know that this is just the beginning of her struggles with her “girls.”
This is not a great picture, but if you can imagine, the “girl/curl” on the right side of her head is most problematic when the humidity soars… especially when you need to be looking down and focusing on the task at hand. Who has time to keep whisking a disobedient curl out of her eyes all day? Certainly, not the Toddler.
Now that we all know that Who is Pooh and girl is curl, hopefully we’ll be able to better understand each other this week.
As I’ve said before, it’s just hard to be two…

She is so cute Hollie! I'm impressed how well she is holding her crayon at only 2 years old. Looks like she is going to be your little artist 🙂 Just like her mom! <3 Julie

Julie: She does love to draw… she's a bit excessive with her use of color (especially if she's painting!), but she likes her art time 🙂 Hope you're doing well and staying safe in FL! We're having some crazy storms here this week. We've got our tornado plan ready!
