This weekend we discovered that one of our favorite after-dinner destinations also has built-in entertainment. You can enjoy your dessert and then express yourself artistically while all the yogurt, mini M & M’s, and gummy bears you just inhaled have a chance to settle.
… and then I had second thoughts about that. Maybe black wasn’t the best choice for dinner and dessert.
Yesterday we had the privilege of serving as volunteers in the 2-year old Sunday School class alongside the Toddler. After experiencing story time and craft time with her, all I can say is that I really hope our child follows instructions better when people other than her parents are the ones in authority. I’m pretty sure she still doesn’t know who Zaccheus was or what he was doing up in that tree. This was her look of shame once we got settled back into the car after church…
She knows when to hang her head low and to look away from the camera on my phone. It was not her best Sunday.
We also rediscovered the joy of some of our old costumes this weekend. We’ve been reading a popular book lately called Ladybug Girl and Bumblebee Boy. The Preschooler always enjoys stories about kids with wild imaginations who go on adventuresome escapades. So, Ladybug Girl is a current favorite. And, it has inspired a little imaginative play of its own. Meet “Bumblebee Girl”…
Unfortunately, sometimes our antennas get all out of whack because “Bumblebee Girl” buzzes right on by our house rules forgetting that we do not “fly” off furniture and other objects.
“Bumblebee Girl” also informed me this weekend that she really thinks she’d like to be “Swimsuit Girl.” Now, there’s a super-hero I’ve never aspired to be. And, I think it might be a requirement that anyone who calls herself “Swimsuit Girl” learn how to actually swim…
