There are a few toys and products that have tested my patience this week in a special way. In random order, here they are:
I sure hope the manufacturers of this Play-doh like product are pretty sure about the accuracy of the “non-toxic” label they assign this stuff. Yesterday I was making the Toddler’s lunch and noticed she was being strangely quite. I found her in the hallway licking this dough ball like it was a chocolate truffle. And, the blue residue all around her mouth and on her tongue told me she had been going at it for awhile. While the Preschooler was certain we needed to rush her to the hospital, I reassured her it was all OK because of my faith in that “non-toxic” thing…
This is part of a little rubber Cinderella dress-up collection the girls play with every day right now. (Of course, the Toddler is not allowed to play with the pink outfit because of her tendency to attempt to swallow small objects). The problem with this toy is that it’s very difficult to dress a rubber doll with rubber clothes. It’s a lot like putting a wet swimsuit on. It just doesn’t work. Yet, our 3-inch tall Cinderella is indecisive and needs multiple outfit changes every day…
As Easter draws near, we start thinking bunnies… and chickens. This one, though, while very cute in pictures, has a special talent for singing if you squeeze his left hand… or paw… or whatever you call chicken appendages. Yes, if you squeeze in just the right spot, he belts “You Are My Sunshine”not once but TWICE at a very audible volume. And, why would you ever want to listen to him only once when you could listen to him over and over and over without end?
I frequent the Chic-fil-A drive-thru with the girls about once a week for an afternoon treat of their delicious IceDream. Up until the last few weeks, we have always ordered kids’ cups and all has gone smoothly. BUT, that all changed upon the Preschooler’s recent discovery of the ice cream cone. And, of course, the Toddler has to have a “comb” for herself, too. Few things are as nerve-wracking to watch as her eating this treat. This is the before picture. The after picture is unavailable because I was too busy cleaning up her face, her hands, her shirt, her jeans, the carseat, and the window. I think it might be time to find a new treat.
And, I will close with this last random picture. This is actually something I love, though. The footed pajamas. I’m not sure at what age it becomes inappropriate for your nightwear to fit like a wetsuit, but this is one of my favorite pieces of clothing that the Toddler owns. Just seeing these pajamas immediately takes me back to her infancy. I even love the hole in the toe. I think it adds some character.
And, who knows? With my newfound sewing skills, I might even be able to sew that right up. Or, better yet, I might find my Kohl’s coupon…
Happy weekend!
