The week in pictures

Well, the week started out very normal. Except for the fact that Monday was the 101st day of school for the 1st Grader, which is a very big deal when you’re six. Adding to her excitement about getting to spend a whole school day celebrating all things 101 and watching 101 Dalmations, she also got to wear the t-shirt we made over the weekend with 101 gum balls {or there about} adorning it. Once I get over my initial anxieties about school projects of this nature, we make a decent team. I get all stressed out; she reminds me that it’s supposed to be fun; I regroup; then we actually do the project.

I’m just glad Monday was the 101st day because the next couple of days would have been a no-go in light of Winter Storm 2014. I was totally caught off guard by the whole event {much like the cities of Atlanta and Birmingham}. But the local meteorologists and my mom were both on top of the situation and forecasted the inclement weather just in time for us to get everyone picked up and packed up to spend the night at Mimi’s. For whatever reason, she always has better snow than us… or at least a better dinner.

The Toddler thought the snow was fun… for approximately fifteen minutes. She loved sledding, so long as she could be carried back up the hill}. And, she loved her “snow soup” {also known as her snowsuit}. But, she had little tolerance for cold, wet hands.
While the big girls enjoyed more time outside, she found better entertainment in a big cup of hot chocolate, or in her case, lukewarm chocolate.
Even on Wednesday when the sun came out, she was still confused as to why everyone wanted to spend so much time outside when they could be inside the warm car enjoying snacks.
I think I’m going to love skiing with her some day. While everyone else braves the slopes, we’ll be hanging out in the lodge drinking hot chocolate and eating s’mores.

As fun as the snow has been, here’s to hoping we get back to the 102nd day of school next week!
