Well, I ventured far outside of my comfort zone yesterday to attempt my first ever trip to Dollywood with both girls. {Of course, I didn’t venture alone, but with a dear and very patient friend in tow. There should be some sort of law about having one adult for every small child in theme parks…}. In hindsight, it might have been wiser to have given more consideration to the weather forecast before going on a 95+ degree day. But, since I watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in the mornings rather than the Today show or the local news, it could be argued that I was unaware that both heat advisory and air quality alerts had been issued. And, so we went, and we conquered…
At least we conquered the preschool rides in the County Fair section.
The Toddler, of course, had to act like she was completely unamused by all of the fanfare…
You can see how excited she was to ride the pig cars {which, incidentally, she selected}.
After she survived that ride without looking up the entire time it was in motion, we moved onto the ducks. Here again, we wouldn’t want to show any outward signs of enjoyment…
The Toddler, though, made sure to look down or away from me every time she passed the spot where I was standing just in case I was to catch a glimpse of her enjoying herself…
I did, however, capture this one picture of both girls posing for the camera. It should be noted, though, that this was before the ride was in motion, which is why the Toddler allowed herself to smile.
After getting our feel for the County Fair area, we were so overcome with heat exhaustion that we {seriously} spent the rest of the afternoon moving between the ice cream stand, the misting stations, and the frozen lemonade kiosk. I don’t know if I’ve ever been so simultaneously hot and fatigued from walking around. That says a lot about my fitness level and/OR how toasty it really was…
Anyway, I think the girls would consider it a day well spent.
And, this is how we all felt when we got home…
