Every summer I like to look back at pictures from summers past and see how much things have changed from year to year. For some reason, this is the only time of year that I remember to do this.
Starting in the summer of 2007… even then the Kindergartener was into planning outdoor adventures.
2008… still bald but big enough to enjoy the original water table.
2009 came around… and then there were two. Two with very different personalities as captured here.
2010… both sitting in real chairs and much happier about it.
2011… bigger and busier.
2012… Well, here’s the deal about that. You see, the third child kind of threw us off kilter {if we were ever on kilter}. And, so, there are no pictures where all three girls are actually in the same picture.
But, we added this one:
Then, this year, 2013… We did better and remembered to take the annual picture. We just need another lawn chair. Or a lawn couch.
It’s crazy how much they’ve changed. It’s crazy how much we’ve changed because of them.
And, also, while I’m on the topic of summer pictures… we have a recent one of the Spouse, also known as Sergeant Safety. Any time I am pulling weeds outside, he says something like, “I can’t believe you’re not wearing gloves to do that.” Yet, we have below an example of his attire when using a {broken} power saw. Most importantly, note the flip flops. I don’t even know what to say about this except that getting a little dirt on my hands seems pretty trite when compared to the travesty of losing a toe. And, I believe those are a pair of Maui Jim’s atop his head rather than safety goggles. Hmmm… does Sergeant Safety have a double standard? Surely not.
