Oh, Tennessee. How I don’t understand your weather patterns. When the temperature hit seventy degrees one afternoon last week, all our Playmobil people made a mad dash for their outdoor pool. But yesterday I looked outside onto the back porch to discover this unfortunate scene…
That’s snow on the slide and the stairs. Apparently the Playmobil community didn’t watch the seven-day forecast before opening their pool for the season. I just hope they will recover.
We’re still recovering from the “spring” break, too. The Toddler spent most of the week battling an ear infection and a stomach bug. But before all of that hit, I made the mistake of walking through the center section of a local mall where they routinely have a parent trap set up in the form of bungee-style trampolines. This is one of many parts of the mall I know to avoid when children are in tow, but I momentarily forgot and walked straight into the trap.
The Toddler, who in her mind is at least five years old, was determined to “jump-jump” just like the 1st-Grader. But, one thing was standing in her way. The minimum weight requirement.
I’ll just say that I’m very grateful for damp jeans, a rain coat, and huge hair which all added up to give her three additional pounds of body weight on this particular day. And, she needed every ounce to tip the scales in her favor.
Notice her intensity. This was no laughing matter.
Nor are spring swim lessons any laughing matter to the Preschooler, who is determined never to find herself in water more than three feet deep.
Each week I say a prayer for her to make strides in the water… and for the swim teacher to persist and persevere.
I also say a prayer that I will be able to handle the future with three daughters who have already started forming strong opinions about what they wear AND what I wear.
The 1st Grader is especially into hair right now. She told me a few weeks ago that she feels like curly hair is really “a better look for me.” And, the Preschooler has been begging me to start wearing red lipstick and blue eyeshadow. Apparently she isn’t a fan of my neutrals, but she would have loved the ’80’s. At this point, I’m just waiting for the Toddler to jump into the mix with suggestions because she is bound to have a few. I’m just not sure I should take advice from people who parade around outside {lifting weights} in their pajamas:
And who accessorize in this way:
