The girls, most especially the 1st Grader, continue to beg for a furry pet. But, I’m trying to convince them that we already have one since this sweet bunny has taken up residence under our back deck.
She’s so cute and springy. But, I’m not sure why she stays because we’re loud and very unpredictable.
First, there’s the Toddler who doesn’t do anything halfheartedly {or quietly}. And, it’s not uncommon for her to be screaming “wocket-sip!” over and over, which means she wants to be repeatedly swung as high as a “rocket ship.” That would be easy enough if she didn’t measure her success against that of the 1st Grader who can swing considerably higher than her. She will not be out-swung.
Then there are the frequent meltdowns over minor misunderstandings. In this case, the Spouse didn’t remember that she prefers to blow the bubbles by herself. Oh, the horror. I’m sure the bunny ran and hid and waited for this storm to pass.
Then, there’s the Preschooler who has recently been introduced to tennis and is still very dangerous with a racquet in hand. The combination of her eagerness and energy should scare the bunny. Sometimes it scares me.
And, finally there’s the problem of this car and its haphazard drivers. If the bunny isn’t careful, she could find herself in the position of that poor baby doll.
I certainly hope that won’t be the case. I’m crossing my fingers that she’ll stick it out at least through Easter and maybe we’ll even be entertained by baby bunnies sometime soon. Anything to stall getting a pet that requires us me to actually care for it just yet!
