My mom gave the Spouse this cartoon last week as she laughed and laughed about how accurate a portrayal it is of our life. (Except for the fact that the cartoon has three young children in it. We’ve just got two, and I promise there’s no hidden message in here).
Well, the Spouse thought it was equally hilarious. So funny, in fact, that he thought he should put it on his Facebook page.
Just for clarification purposes, here are the facts. We do live near the bottom of a huge hill. We do own a stroller that I have been known to frequently suggest he put the girls in for a ride up and around the top of our neighborhood. I do tell him it will be “fun.” They do like to go fast. Therefore, he is usually sweating. And, the girls are usually whining by the end of the outing.
Here’s what the cartoon leaves out, though. The mother, aka me, is not inside laid out on the couch watching back-logged episodes of “House Hunters” on DVR and eating s’mores. (Though that would be a dream). No, the mother is inside frantically trying to get a few things done… cleaning up spilled milk, tossing a load of clothes in the dryer, warding off a telemarketer, and throwing dinner together by dicing strawberries and chicken tenders into pieces small enough for a mouse while simultaneously overseeing the baking of a dish she is very likely to ruin. She, too, is sweating. Yet, this is how she is enjoying the first ten uninterrupted minutes of her day. It’s pretty glamorous.
So, that’s the whole truth. I just thought the cartoon needed some further explanation 😉 Happy weekend!
