Scenes from the sand

Last week we went to the beach with both of our extended families. So, for most of the week the girls had all eight of their first cousins there, which was a special treat for them. Their energy was at an all-time high. In fact, this is the view from my side of the bed one morning. Please note it’s still dark.

That’s a lot of energy to wake up to at the beach… or anywhere for that matter.

There was lots of wave riding.

And lots of screaming every time a wave approached.

There was sandcastle building.
And, then there was a beach hat bandit who made it her mission to step on castles and stir up all manner of trouble on the sand.

Since it’s rare for our whole crew to be anywhere scenic at the same time, there were also many family beach pictures.

All would have gone well with these except that the Toddler can’t be near water without being in the water.

So, while both of the sessions started out well, they ended like this one night:

And, like this the other night:

And, also, there was the part where the photographer wanted the girls to run in the sand… in white dresses. That ended with a fall in the wet sand and a very pouty attitude for the rest of that session:

Even with wet and/or pouty subjects, you can’t beat the beach for a background.

And, it’s always hard to leave the ocean behind…

Until next time, we’ll just have to make do with all the sand we brought home in our shoes and the floorboard of our car.
