The Monday after vacation is always a hard one. I think maybe all beach trips should require a minimum two week stay. If they say it takes twenty-one days to make or break a habit, it surely takes fourteen days to fully relax…
Since the reality, though, is that it is a Monday, and since preschool has come to a sad end for the school year {meaning I’m writing this during what may or may not be a fifteen minute span of peace}, I think I’ll resort to a bullet point recap of the trip.
• Biking with the girls in tow worked really well this year for the most part. The trails were flat and shady, and the destinations were all exciting enough to merit some extra patience for the trek there. By Friday, though, the general mood in the tag-a-long was beginning to get hostile, and the invisible line separating their sides had been crossed a few too many times.
• The Toddler started the week off with a fear of the beach and especially the ocean. By week’s end, though, that fear had turned into a fascination with the waves and the little body of water that had pooled after the tide between our plot of sand and the ocean. This, she decided, was her own mini-beach.
Unfortunately, swim diapers are not near as effective as advertised. And, this particular trip to the mini-beach came to an abrupt and messy end for the Toddler.
• By Friday the ocean was warm enough to enjoy, and the “soapy” waves were a great source of entertainment. Here is an action shot of some wave-jumping…
And, here is the Preschooler enjoying some jumping herself, only I could never catch both her and the Spouse in the air at the same time…

You crack me up! Ours was just about the same way…feel more tired now than before I left. Thank you for the laughs (and to know I am not alone).

Becky: I can't believe you were so close by last week. We've never been to Fripp, but I've heard it's nice. If you all went with two plus a newborn without grandparents or other back-up, you're so brave! Hope you had a great trip despite the exhaustion 🙂
