Sometimes I forget how children behave at various ages and stages. But, this week, I’ve been reminded that sixteen months is a very unreasonable age.
This morning, someone threw a huge fit because she couldn’t get her foot in her sister’s black patent baby doll shoe. {This is similar to the fit she threw last week when she couldn’t fit her body into the pint-sized chair from their dollhouse}.
I tried explaining the size difference… showing her the size difference… putting another black shoe on the other foot… but, nothing would do. It needed to be the tiny baby doll shoe or nothing.
So. Some major crying and fist-clenching and foot-stomping ensued.
But, then… she remembered she hadn’t finished her Cheerios.
And, it was as if the black shoe incident had never even happened.
Oh, to live so passionately in each moment. It’s a bit intense and a bit exhausting. But, the days are certainly not boring.
