Moving Month

I don’t think it matters whether you’re moving across the country or across the street, moving is hard. I can’t imagine that anyone likes to move, but I know some people who are good at getting it done. They pack well, they plan well, they purge well, and they seamlessly transition from one dwelling to another all in a day’s time.

I am not one of those people. But, right now it would be incredibly convenient if I was.

We are in over our heads with this one. I’d like to blame it on the other things we have going on… new job, new baby… but, the truth is, I wouldn’t be good at moving if it was the one and only thing I had going on in life.

Due in part to my lack of preparation for this move…

For the next couple of days we are living out of a suitcase at my mom’s place. Yes, all five of us, including two small people who do not sleep through the night, are crashing at her condo. I imagine she’s thrilled because, really, could you ask for a better group of roommates?

One great thing that has come out of our stay here is the re-discovery of one of my favorite pieces of apparel from my childhood:

A {conservative} Wonder Woman costume, circa 1980.

How I wish I had her powers.

Much too late last night I ran across these two quotes that have become my source of inspiration for the week…

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” {Leonardo da Vinci}
“Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.”
{William Morris}

I have much work to do in terms of the da Vinci quote because if you could see our house right now, I am looking far, far from sophisticated. But, this I know. The usefulness of a Wonder Woman costume cannot be overestimated. Every house needs one. And, if it still fit, I’d be wearing that one tomorrow.
