Someday telling the girls that their mother made their costumes: priceless
… Except that it’s not exactly true because their grandmother had to intervene and save the project somewhere about the time their mother realized it was going to require both a sewing machine and the patience of Job to complete. Regardless, in the end, both girls have a skirt that I hope they will gleefully agree to wear this weekend. The skirts aren’t perfect, but they were assembled with love… and much grumbling about the whole “easy to sew” conspiracy going on over at JoAnn’s. Due to the possible complications that may arise when the delicate velcro that holds the skirts up meets the energy of my children, pictures will be unavailable until Monday.
In other domestic news, I baked a cake today in honor of the Spouse’s birthday. Since this involves the use of the mixer, it’s a rare event around here. I am happy to report that the cake tasted just fine. My decorating skills, though, could stand improvement. Much like sewing, cake decorating is another area where any artistic skills with pen and paper do not translate. Hence, the red-letter acronym. (Hint: the “H” stands for “happy”). Toddler 1 was in charge of the decorative placement of the chocolate chips 🙂
Have a great weekend!
