It’s all in the eyes, or maybe the hair

Our summer break has gotten off to a slow start, mainly because I somehow acquired pink eye the first week. It seems like swimmer’s ear would be a more appropriate summer ailment, but I don’t think I’d wish either on anyone. The trouble with pink eye is that it has this tendency to become pink eyes, and in the famous words of Sweet Brown, “Ain’t nobody got time for that.”

But, that’s OK. I’m not on here to talk about eyes today. There are more important topics… like hair. Don’t worry, I have no tips. I believe my hair history would immediately discredit me on that topic. But, I’ve made a recent discovery about hair that has profound significance for how I may need to parent my youngest.

See, last year we didn’t know what her hair was going to do. {Maybe her expressive eyes should have been a clue}.

But, fast forward to this year, and we know that her hair is WILD. Most importantly, though, I’ve discovered this one part of her hair that explains so much about her blossoming personality. I call it the defiant curl.

Sure, it’s fun-loving and free-spirited. It likes to have a good time. But, I dare you to try to get it to do what you need it to do. It won’t be restrained by a bow or clip. Water makes it go wild. And, it has as much bounce as a Slinky.
I think I see a direct correlation to her personality there.
While I’m on the topic hair and eyes and such, the Preschooler has made a discovery of her own. She’s been playing a new game on the phone called “Wedding Day.” And, in the game you take your “bride” to the spa to prepare for her big day.
So, the other night in the car we heard her tell the Kindergartener, “Hey, I’m at the part where I put the pickles on her eyes.” I didn’t even have to look at the screen to know exactly where she was in the game.
Ah, yes. The old pickles on the eyes trick. Aside from the intense sting, it works every time.
So, today I may just ditch the antibiotic I’ve been faithfully applying to my eyes and just grab a couple of kosher dills from the refrigerator. I think my pink eye{s} are nearly cured, but who couldn’t use a little perk up?
And, we’re going to need some form of entertainment anyway because the Kindergartener has brought it to our attention that the library is closed today “buck-os” there is “visidrs.” Who knew?
