I have this bad habit of storing way too many pictures on my phone and then wondering why it’s acting sluggish. Apparently it can only handle so much of my demands on its memory. So, at the Spouse’s suggestion, I’ve been trying to actually upload pictures to the computer more regularly to free up some space. You know, dealing with technology and all its quirks is something the aforementioned Proverbs 31 woman didn’t have to worry about…
These are a few of my favorite phone pics from the past few weeks:
Out of nowhere, the Baby has learned to sit up. She is thoroughly enjoying her new vantage point and eager to see what fun she can get into as a full-blown sitter. Is it me, or do you see a resemblance?
Raise your hand if you feel like your head might weigh a LOT more than the rest of your body:
With her newfound sitting skills, she is also working up more of an appetite. It seems like the experts all have differing opinions about when you’re supposed to start solids, but I thought the lip-smacking and this might be a sign of her readiness for more frequent “food” feedings:
But, then I was quickly reminded of why it is that I like to delay things like highchair feedings with baby food. Because, my goodness the mess. She grabs the spoon, then grabs the bowl, then touches her hair. She smacks down on the bite as it goes in, then sneezes. Or, my favorite… she takes a big bite and then hears her sisters make a commotion nearby, so she suddenly kicks in excitement and I spill the whole bowl. I have to pray for patience before each feeding. But, she really, really likes it. I think she may just enjoy the attention…
Here we have a random shot of the Toddler sporting her all-time favorite dress-up outfit… the highly coveted bride ensemble. When she asks me, “Mommy, do I look beautiful?,” I just want to eat her up. Sometimes, though, my little bride gets an attitude and starts to act a bit Bridezilla-ish, so it’s a delicate balance. On this particular day, she was a great bride.
The Preschooler has just recently started to shy away from letting me take her picture here, there, and everywhere. She’s all about her privacy. So, I may have to start getting her to sign a consent before I post pictures of her on the blog. She did, though, let me take this one of her playing the other day:
And, this is where I need to point out an interesting fact about the McDonald’s toy she is standing behind. It’s one my brother and sister and I played with when we were little. This toy stays at my mom’s house, and the girls love playing drive-thru when we go over there. Yesterday I was watching them play around with it, and I started wondering if Fisher-Price still makes anything along the same lines. So, I got on Ebay and almost immediately found it listed with the heading, “Classic McDonald’s Drive-Thru” with a pricey buy-it-now sticker of $310. Of course, then, I had to start looking up all the other toys in the room from my childhood. And, do you know what I discovered? Apparently anything manufactured in the late 1980’s is now considered vintage. As in “1989 Vintage Fisher-Price Fun with Food McDonald’s Happy Meal.” Were the 80’s really that long ago?
And, then I started thinking about the fact that while I’m taking all these pictures with the digital camera that’s built into my smart-phone, my girls may never even know what a roll of film looks like. They’ll have to Google “35 millimeter film” and learn about it in much the same way I had to learn about the phonograph by looking at a picture in my Encyclopedia Brittanica.
I guess maybe I am a little vintage.
Happy weekend!
