Well, Halloween 2018 has come and gone. I just feel like I’m still picking up the safety pins and panty hose that held us and our costumes together. Despite me saying every year that we’re done with the family theme, we went with one again at the 6th Grader’s request. We don’t have a ton of family traditions, and we may look back at these Halloween getups as the most ridiculous thing we did each fall. But only time will tell!
In full disclosure, it doesn’t happen without some heated discussion {3 girls = a lot of opinions} and most definitely not without Amazon and eBay. As always, there’s more than meets the eye in a photo. But, this is the most normal looking picture of our flight crew:
We took this at a new credit union just down the road from us that sort of resembles a terminal. I originally thought it would be fun to go to the nearby airport for a few pictures, but I thought better of this idea when I realized it’s technically illegal to impersonate a pilot. I mean, the girls and I would have been fine. But the Spouse just turned 40, and he wasn’t feeling like an encounter with airport security would be a good way to celebrate.
As usual, the 4th Grader was mortified to be seen in costume in public. We did it after business hours, but at least four people drove slowly and confusedly through the ATM in the parking lot while we were there. So, I had to keep assuring her that nothing about this is illegal. Ironically, both the 4th Grader and I hate to fly. You couldn’t pay either one of us enough to do it for a job. And, I’m pretty sure most passengers would prefer their flight attendants not be scared of takeoff, turbulence, and landing. As for the pilot and the other two attendants you would be left with… I’d caution against getting on a plane with them for other reasons.
We got pictures out of the way long before it was time to trick-or-treat. So, hopefully the night itself will be remembered as a more low-key, good time with neighbors and friends. No heels, no pictures; just candy and treats.
And now… it’s November. I love it when the leaves on the trees around here have a delayed color change. Everything around us looks like a painting. If ever I’m tempted to leave East Tennessee, it’s certainly not in the fall.
Wishing you a good weekend and a slow and unhurried entry into this next month.
