The Baby has learned a few new tricks related to her mealtimes. As of late, each time we put a bite of baby food in her mouth she takes it off the spoon, waits a few seconds as if she’s savoring the flavor, and then spits the bite back out at us. And, she spits with a good bit of force. Her sisters, of course, think this is wildly entertaining. But, when you’re wearing white jeans, it’s less than amusing to have pureed sweet potatoes unexpectedly blown back at you. The Spouse {who would probably appreciate me clarifying that he is not the one wearing white jeans} has had enough of the nonsense and has devised a clever defense mechanism for his early morning feeding sessions with her… he uses a shield.
This actually works. I think the shield distracts her…
Her other trick, when she’s not busy spitting, is to grab hold of the spoon with her {two} teeth so that you can’t get it back out of her mouth.
Then, she takes the spoon and has her way with it…
And, she thinks all of this is hilarious.
Something tells me that our visits to public eating establishments are going to have to be curbed.
