I can’t seem to find enough time lately to actually put whole stories together, but I can always find a few phone pictures to talk on and on about. And, so I did…
Last week I decided to tried a new activity with the older two, and I think this may be my favorite art experience with them yet. It’s salt painting. Who knew salt could be so entertaining?
All you have to do is draw a picture with Elmer’s glue, pour salt over it {and shake off the excess}. Then, paint your salt with liquid watercolors {which in our case was just food coloring mixed with water}. And, then in the most gratifying of ways, the paint spreads through the salt like magic.
Some day when I am feeling particularly care-free or crazy, I will introduce the Toddler to this activity. But, until then, she must know nothing of it.
Besides, she stays plenty busy taking care of her dolls right now.
I’m not exactly sure what kind of childcare program she’s running. But, I’m a little concerned about over-crowding. At this moment she said they were “trying,” {crying} and she was helping to get them settled down. I can’t imagine why they were upset.
On another recent afternoon, the doctor kit was rediscovered and put to use at a full-service doll hospital. The doctor{s} all take their jobs very seriously.
Dolls were checked in and triaged accordingly. The doll on the left had some sort of snow-skiing injury, possibly related to sleepwalking since she appears to have been wearing a nightgown on the slopes.
At one point I overheard the Preschooler say, “Whoa! This girl’s blood pressure is too high!”
So, I asked, “What is it?”
And without hesitation she said, “Forty pounds.”
That sounds very serious. I don’t know how accurate a blood pressure reading is when taken at the ankle, but whatever the case, I definitely agree with the doctor’s recommendation that she lay down and rest immediately.
And one final random picture…
My sister gave us this trike last week that my niece had outgrown. From the moment she saw it, the Toddler knew it was a big girl bike and couldn’t wait to get it home and try it out.
Unfortunately, at this time she can only pedal backwards. Initially that was disappointing. But, in no time she has decided that backwards biking might actually be even more fun than traditional trike riding. Hence, the helmet.
Happy 4th to you and yours!
