I hear from people all the time about how different girls and boys are even as very young children. I can’t speak to raising boys, of course, but I can tell you that girls are not “sugar and spice” all the time. Sure they love their baby dolls and Barbies, and we have no small collection of tutus and princess dresses, magic wands and fairy wings. But, girls {mine, at least} have their share of energy and curiosity. And, their inquisitiveness can get them into their own brand of trouble in a split second.
Take the Baby, for example, who is currently obsessed with a certain off-limits part of the bathroom.
While health officials concerned with the flu epidemic are warning everyone to take extra precautions in the way of hand sanitization, the Baby is busy dipping her forearms into these forbidden waters. And, I’ve discovered that when I catch her in the act and scream… well, her instinctive response is to put her hand in her mouth. Basic psychology would tell you that I should stop screaming because maybe she enjoys my reaction. But, I can’t help it.
This is beyond disturbing.
And, it calls for immediate action in the form or locks or barricades of some sort. I’ve avoided these up until now because they frustrate her sisters, but I’m forced to reconsider.
Apparently she thinks this is a game. And, I will win. She may be short, quiet, and fast… but, I am onto her ways, and I {with some help from the “safety” aisle at Babies ‘R Us} will outsmart her if I cannot outrun her.
Get your game face on, Baby.
