Sometimes, really most of the time, I feel like a say a lot of things during the course of the day that I later wish I could go back and somehow erase or at least edit a little bit. This is especially true in regard to things I say or tones I use when I’m frustrated with the girls. So, in an effort to redeem many of the mistakes I make with them and reinforce some positive messages in their formative little minds, I’ve invested in a few good Christian CD’s that we can all listen along to in the car. It’s perfect parenting I tell you.
Last week my most recent purchase arrived in the mail, and we started listening to a new collection of kids’ praise songs. These, though, are some of the old classics like Do Lord, I’ve Got the Joy, the B.I.B.L.E., He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands, This Little Light of Mine, and our new favorite… Bees Like a River. Yes, driving home the other day I heard Toddler 1 singing along in the backseat so proudly:
I’ve got bees like a river, I’ve got bees like a river
I’ve got bees like a river in my soul
Well, some things just aren’t worth explaining right now. And, the truth is, sometimes there are bees at the river. Especially in the summer. And, especially in the South.
So, until I feel like explaining hard concepts like “peace” and “soul” to an inquisitive three-year old in terms she can understand, I think we’ll just stick with the bees.
Have a great weekend!
