One of my favorite things about this time of year is seeing all the fun arts and craft projects the girls bring home from preschool, school, and church. I love art projects, but doing crafts with young children is a whole different ballgame. It’s certainly not for the impatient or high-strung… which basically sums up my personality. So, I’m completely fascinated by teachers who calmly help preschoolers make things of this sort:
Granted, it’s been over 36 hours since the Preschooler brought this home and the glue seriously has yet to dry. But, I love it.
I also love it when the 1st Grader creates a piece of art that incorporates spelling. Last week she went to an afternoon camp where the kids talked about the history of the American Girl dolls and did some crafts and cookies that related to the dolls. This is the coloring page where she was explaining who her doll is and what “Kit” likes to do:
If ever the middle “r” has been important, this is one of those times.
In the story books, Kit is a reporter. I’m not sure what a “repooter” does… I just hope they work in isolation.
If it’s unclear, Kit “also is a gymnast.”
Oh, how I love phonics. Sometimes I can’t wait for the girls to be old enough to enjoy the humor of their own assignments. But until that day, these will both be going into the “keeper” bin.
