How has it been a year already? I’ll be the first to say that days spent at home with young children can seem eternally long, but birthdays are always a reminder of how quickly a year flies by!
Sweet Baby C,
While I still haven’t written even the first word in your baby book, it’s certainly not for lack of interesting things to document about your first year. You’ve added a ton of entertainment and joy {and energy!} to our family, and we can barely remember life before you joined us.
It seems like you were born with a desire to play, smiling from day one…
Maybe you just knew your sisters were going to be a load of fun… at least most of the time.
You’ve had so much personality from early on, and you’ve been quick to express your likes and dislikes.
You’re not a fan of products designed for babies, most especially not of anything that might be considered restraint… like your pack n’ play, carseat, Bumbo seat, or restaurant highchairs. You’re bored {in some cases to the point of sleep} by such.
But, you do like music, especially when you’re the one making it…
You like to eat paper. And, so far, you show no signs of letting up on your habit of ingesting some at least once a day. Hopefully, the extra fiber is beneficial in some way.
You absolutely love playing with the big girls and being in the middle of whatever they have going on.
You LOVE being outside.
You’re curious and brave in your explorations. You’ve been so anxious to keep up with your sisters that you’ve reached a lot of milestones a bit earlier than we expected. You started walking at 10 months, and you’re hard to keep up with because you’re short and fast. You especially like to get into things that you know are “off limits.” For example, you’re much more interested in the contents of my diaper bag than the contents of our playroom…
But, truth be told, your curiosity and mischievousness is endearing. Just when we thought we had this business of raising daughters under control, you arrived and reminded us how much we have still to learn. Every day is an adventure, and we sure are glad you’re a part of ours.
So, happy first birthday autumn Baby.
We love you to the moon… and back.
