I think this may be one of her most accurate artistic interpretations to date. All the hair color and styles are spot on. The only areas where she got questionably creative are:
1) My height, since I tower above the Spouse by a good four or five inches. Maybe we’re standing in a V-formation.
2) The size of my belt. I don’t think I usually wear one that large??
3) My eyelashes. If only they looked anything like that. It’s like I’m an advertisement for Latisse. I could certainly benefit from some.
4) Also, if you look closely, some anatomy is slightly off-center. But, still. We are now drawing anatomy, and that’s a big step!
5) Only the Spouse and I have noses. I’m not even sure what that means, just an observation.
6) All the females are wearing necklaces except the Toddler. That’s because the artist knows the Toddler still puts jewelry in her mouth. Safety first, even in pictures.
When the Toddler saw this, the first thing she said was, “What’s Daddy doin’ with his arms?”
My only explanation is that he’s flexing. Like he always does, you know.
I hope the 2nd Grader enjoys these family drawings as much as we do someday. Seeing her skills and attention to detail change from year to year is fascinating. And, it’s always a fun way to see what she really thinks about us.
Also, I found this list of “School Rules” the 2nd Grader had written out for her sisters when they play school at home.
I think my favorites are:
2. Do not blurt.
{This should be a general rule for adults, too. If you have something nice to say, say it. But, don’t just blurt out whatever comes to mind. “Blurting” is never good.}
6. Close your mouth when you burp.
{Again, a good rule for all of us.}
7. No phones or iPads.
{Rules have changed since I was in school because bringing the land line to school just wasn’t feasible.}
Not surprisingly, at the top of this page the “teacher” had written the Toddler’s name several times indicating she had broken one of the rules. In fact, she had even had to move her behavior clip, which means a note would be sent home to her parents. Surely not.

Very creative and sweet. Be sure to keep them somewhere safe!
