I talk to the girls a lot about ways we can try to stay well during flu season, so I’m always belaboring the importance of washing our hands, not sharing our food or drinks, and doing what we can to keep germs at bay. The Preschooler never forgets a thing I say, and she’s starting to use my words against me.
Yesterday in a busy shopping center parking lot…
Me: I need you to hold my hand. This is a very busy parking lot.
The Preschooler: I can’t. There are germs on your hand.
And, she was totally serious. And, probably right. She challenges me in new ways every day, and I think she enjoys it.

The Kindergartener brought home this drawing she did at school the other day:
Me: I love it! Now… who is “bab”?
The Kindergartener: No, no, no. It says, “mom and DAD.”
Of course it does. I think I’m going to start calling the Spouse, “Babs” just for fun. Besides his new nickname, I also love his look: a tunic and leggings. He likes to keep up with all the latest trends.
I also love that I have an eye patch and he has a snout.
The Spouse never thinks these pictures are as fun to analyze as I do.

And, then there’s the Baby. Her biggest problem lately is some severe bed head.
Does this tell you anything about how wild her {and therefore our} nights are?
Even she was taken aback when she caught her first glimpse of herself in the mirror yesterday…

And, then there’s this morning. We have the Kindergartener home from school on break now and she and the Preschooler decided to re-enact the nativity. Naturally, a fight broke out over who got to be Mary. I tried to convince the Preschooler that she would make a great angel, especially since she was donning a white leotard. But, she insisted that she couldn’t be an angel because she “can’t fly in real life.” So, I set up a stool for her to stand on so she could at least appear to levitate. If you ignore the stool leg on the left, I think it’s pretty convincing.
Eventually the Kindergartener cleverly persuaded the Preschooler to be Elizabeth and take care of baby John, which she said, is “actually better because he was born first.”
Not surprisingly, the Baby got kicked out of the nativity scene early on and was replaced by a doll. But, I don’t think she minded. She rather enjoys her freedom.
Hope you enjoy your weekend!
