A {little} Pumpkin Party

To celebrate the Baby’s big day, we had a little pumpkin party in her honor. And, the best thing about a birthday party for a one-year old is that the guest of honor never knows he or she is the guest of honor. So, they spend a good bit of time trying to figure out what all the fuss and festivity is about…. Surely wondering things like…

Why do you keep taking my picture with this huge pumpkin out in the middle of the yard?

It’s a party for who?
Why are my sisters so incredibly intense when it comes to crafts?
Why am I wearing this pointy hat? And, more importantly, why are my parents {who normally seem so sensible} giving me something that is clearly on fire?
Seriously, you want me to eat this?
OK, then. If you insist.

This is not the best of family pictures, but what I love about it is the way it captures the Baby doing what she does best: marching full-speed ahead to get to her next mission. In this case, I think she had spotted a leaf she wanted to eat.

Since I’m pretty sure she won’t remember it {and there’s a good chance I’ll forget all the details}, I’m just glad I’ve got it documented here that we did, in fact, have a party for a certain super busy one-year old.
